Srinagar, Feb 5:
With the improvement in weather, the flight operations at Srinagar Airport and road traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway that were hit by the snowfall on Sunday were restored on Monday, officials said.
All the flights from Srinagar International Airport were cancelled on Sunday due to the bad weather.
Director of Srinagar Airport, Javeed Anjum, said the flight operation was normal on Monday.
The traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was also restored on Monday following improvements in the weather conditions.
However, traffic officials said there was slow movement on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway between Nashri and Banihal because of poor surface conditions at various places.
The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road connecting Ladakh remained closed due to the snowfall on the road.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said that Srinagar received 3.2 cm of snowfall and 3 mm of rainfall, Pahalgam 5.7 cm,Kokernag 6.7 cm,and Gulmarg 5 cm of snowfall, respectively, during the past 24 hours.
Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -0.4°C against -0.7°C the previous night. It was normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 3.0°C, which was 5.9?C below the normal of 8.9°C on the previous day.
Qazigund had a low of -1.4°C against -2.2°C, and Kokernag recorded a minimum of -3.3°C against -2.4°C on Monday.
The minimum temperature at Pahalgam plunged to -11.9°C against the -3.5?C recorded the previous night. It was 5.7?C below normal for the tourist hot spot of Pahalgam.
Kupwara had a low of -0.9?C against -1.9?C recorded a day ago, and it was 1.1°C above normal for the frontier Kashmir district of north Kashmir.
Gulmarg recorded a low of -10°C against the -7.0°C recorded the previous night. It was 3.3°C below normal for the famous ski resort of north Kashmir, the MeT office said.
The MeT office said the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy with the possibility of light snow over isolated higher reaches, while the weather will remain dry from February 6 to 13.
The minimum temperature is expected to fall sharply, and cold wave-like conditions are likely to prevail over many stations in Kashmir and a few stations in Jammu this evening, MeT said
