188 AEDs in 88 rly station in Mumbai for heart care

Mumbai, Feb 2:

To install 188 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in public places like 88-railway stations and 100-Metro stations, the Rotary Club of Bombay Airport had organised a unique musical extravaganza, “Dil ki Batein”, where a group of medical consultants named “Tuning Folks, “shared their passion for singing for charity and entertained audience to create awareness on cardiac arrest.

Early CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) by bystanders in public places have been increasingly emphasised as crucial tools in saving lives during sudden cardiac arrests.

These portable devices are designed to deliver an electric shock to the heart when someone is experiencing a life-threatening arrhythmia.

By providing immediate intervention before emergency medical services arrive, AEDs significantly increase the chances of survival for individuals experiencing cardiac arrest, said Dr Akshay Mehta, cardiologist & president of Rotary Club of Bombay Airport, here.
