India’s Sini for Miss World Pageant 2024



“Beauty is a heart inflamed and soul enchanted,” wrote celebrity Lebanese American author Khalil Gibran. It is to be seen how many hearts will be inflamed and how many souls enchanted during the ongoing 71st Miss World Pageants 

The Big Four, also known as the Big-League Pageants, encompass the four principal international beauty pageants for women: Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth. In the Indian context, the inaugural women’s pageant was organised by Amitabh Bachhan’s ABCL in 1996. The forthcoming 71st edition of the Miss World in 2024 will mark the second occasion of its hosting in India.

A total of 120 contestants from countries across the globe are participating in various components of the competitions and charitable initiatives, making them ambassadors of change. The 71st Miss World will culminate with a dazzling grand finale at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. On February 20. The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) hosted ‘The Opening Ceremony’ and ‘India Welcomes the World Gala’ festivities at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi to officially kick off the celebrations.

Diverse components constitute the Beauty Pageant, among which Beauty with a Purpose stands out. Established in 1972, this event precedes the Miss World contest, conferring an award upon the contestant with the most significant charitable project in their country. Notably, Miss World Korea 2005, Oh Eun-young, was the inaugural recipient of the Beauty With a Purpose award. The exclusive recipient of both the Beauty With a Purpose Award and the Miss World crown is Miss World 2017, Manushi Chhillar. The 71st edition of Miss World transpired on February 21 at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Miss World Sports, or Miss World Sportswoman, is a coveted title and award presented to the victor of a sports event within the Miss World pageant. Introduced in 2003, it serves as a fast-track or preliminary event, with the winner securing automatic advancement to the semifinals. The event this year is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on February 25.

Miss World Top Model, a rapid-track modeling competition, and the World Top Designer Award, recognizing the designer of creations featured during the Miss World pageant, are prestigious awards scheduled for March 2 in Mumbai.

The Miss World Red Carpet Special is an eagerly anticipated event featuring attendees donning high-fashion outfits designed by renowned designers, building anticipation for the grand finale on March 9 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

Sini Sadanand Shetty, a 20-year-old model and reigning beauty pageant titleholder, will represent India at the 71st Miss World pageant. Hailing from Karnataka, Shetty holds a degree in accounting and finance, excels in Bharatanatyam dancing, and possesses talents in acting, dancing, painting, and badminton. The winner of Femina Miss India World 2022, Shetty is set to represent India at the 71st Miss World Pageant.

It is noteworthy that after a hiatus of 28 years, the World Pageant is returning to India. The 71st edition of the Miss World pageant recently commenced with its opening ceremony in New Delhi. Contestants will undergo various rounds leading up to the grand finale on March 9 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

India’s representative, Sini Shetty, has already captured hearts, radiating positivity at the opening ceremony, and the imminent crowning ceremony on March 9 will see Karolina Bielawska of Poland passing on the coveted crown to her successor. And after the finale, the beauty-admirers will be left wondering with the words of celebrity author Khalil Gibran, “Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.”
