The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) president B. Narasimhan on Friday said that the company secretary course offered by the institute has garnered global recognition.

Narasimhan also mentioned that there’s interest from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish ties with the institute, indicating potential collaboration under the New Education Policy.

This collaboration aims to enhance awareness about corporate sector security, Narasimhan told reporters on the eve of the second National Women’s Seminar.

“The institute had a detailed discussion with UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar on Thursday. He is very keen to know in detail the courses offered by our Institute.

“UGC has expressed its desire to know something more outside the regular course under the New Education Policy. This is, however, in the initial stages. I am confident that this interaction will flower into a partnership between the two ions,” he said.

Furthermore, Narasimhan highlighted partnerships with various organisations such as the Science Olympiad Association, Bird Education Ltd, and International Olympiad Foundation, along with collaborations with prestigious institutions like IIMs and the National Law School University.

The ICSI is also focusing on updating its curriculum to include emerging subjects like Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, ensuring alignment with technological advancements, Narasimhan said.

The institute has shown commitment to social responsibility by providing exemptions to soldiers serving in defense and para-military forces for pursuing courses and establishing a corpus fund to support students who have lost their parents, he said.

Moreover, initiatives like setting up arbitration tribunals aim to alleviate the burden on courts in resolving institutional affairs disputes, Narasimhan said.

The Second National Women Seminar organised by ICSI with the theme “Inspiration to Women Leadership – Accelerate Progress” emphasised the importance of women adopting technology for professional development.

The seminar intends to address various women-related issues in the professional sphere.
