Pritish A R , Chennai born boy now living in Sydney, Australia was officially the world’s fastest drummer! that was in 2021 when he was 11 years old. He has broken the record for the most drumbeats in a minute using drumsticks, with a total of 2,370 – that’s 39.5 beats per second.
To the delight of music lovers in Chennai he Pritish now 14, gave a live performance on drums accompanied by instrumental ensemble of professional singers, keyboard player and guitarists. His guru and mentor Drummer Sridhar was also on stage conducting the two hour long session not as seated amidst drum set which was adorned by his record setting student , so he was behind triple congas.
Drummer Sridhar is an ace drummer well known to top musicians in Tamilnadu. He is the founder of Drums Fighter troupe and has played for all top music conductors in South of India.Incidentally Drums Fighter troupe is India’s first professional Drummer’s band.
In 2019 Pritish parents Rajesh Kumar and Aarthi approached him to tutor their son living in Sydney via video classes. On seeing the talent and interest of Pritish, without hesitation took him into his fold and made him practice vigourously and also guided him to attempt all the necessary exams and made him clear them all with flying colours.
At just 10 years of age, he completed the highest grade exam in the Trinity College of London, Grade 8, for drums.
The proud parents who hail from Chennai were totally satisfied with the efforts of Drummer Sridhar and were on stage to laud and thank his efforts.
The evening started with Pritish A R ‘s little sister Shreya on keyboard for the first song.
Singers Karthik, Vijayalakshmi and Bhuvana who also compered with elan, guitarists were Nycel on base guitar and David ably supported by Ravi Shankar on keyboard.
The evening was full of Illayaraja hits and singer Karthik was belting out songs after songs that was mesmerising added to that all the songs highlight was the drums scores. Poo Potta Dhavani, Ennadi Meenakshi, Poongatrae Un peyar solla, Ithu oru nila kalam, Vanithamani Vanamohini and many more such peppy numbers.
The chief guests at the event ware Sadha master the expert guitarist for mastreo Illayaraja and music director James Vasanthan, Makkal Kural, Trinity Mirror Editor R Muthu Kumar and Makkal Kural V Ramjee and they all praised the teenager’s effort profusely and wished him on the occasion.
Bhuvana (singer too) welcomed the gathering and compared the programme. Krishnakumar ( a leading programme organizer and coordinator, father of keyboard Sathya, a leading young musician) gave a brief note about Sridhar and his team.
